Humans are one of the free peoples of the middle-earth, the younger children of Iluvatar. Younger they are called because they awoke later than the elves, with the first rays of the sun. Already at the dawn of their existence, the people were divided - most, out of fear or ignorance, for they knew no other Valar, joined Melkor, and only the adans became friends with the elves. Over time, people settled a large part of the territory of middle-earth, from Eriador to Khand and Harad, and divided into many tribes-dunadans, Easterlings, Haradrim, ristanis, northerners, Varyags, and so on. In Gondor, it was decided to divide people into three groups: the people of the West, the dúnedain, men of the twilight - ristianity, and beorning, people of darkness bastaki, donlands and all those who descended not from adanov. Having created the Quendi (Elves) as the most beautiful of beings, and has given them the knowledge and a life of great bliss, Iluvatar prepared another gift for men: "and he commanded that the hearts of men should not be content with the World and find no rest in it. But people will have the power to make their way among the beauties and dangers of the World, while the fate of other creatures is determined by the Song of the Ainur; and the formation of the World will be completed by human actions, the world will belong to the last and the youngest." Humans are inferior to the elves not only in their birthright. They are prone to aging and disease, are not so knowledgeable and wise, and the future is hidden for them. With the fall of Sauron and the departure of the elves, humans became the rightful lords of the middle-earth, so the Fourth age is also called the age of Human Rule.
The elves are one of the free peoples of middle-earth, the eldest children of Iluvatar, the first-Born. In the first age, the elves were divided into those who went on the Great March and reached Aman, and those who answered the call of the Valar and remained in middle-earth. At the beginning of the first age, the elves were very powerful and fought on equal terms with Melkor (Morgoth), but gradually their power faded, they sought to the West. That is why, by the end of the third age, almost all the elves had left Midland. Elves have much sharper hearing and vision than humans; they never sleep, and they just dream when they are awake to rest. It was the elves who taught the ents to speak, invented the chronology, and created both alphabets. The elves also forged three rings of power: Villa (ring with a sapphire), Narya (ring of Fire) and Nenya (Ring of waters). But after the destruction of the single ring of power, they lost their power and at the end of the Third era were taken over the sea. Die elves, only from a mortal wound or from sorrow, old age they do not know.
The dwarves - one of the free peoples of middle-earth, were created by Aule, who was so impatient to wait for the arrival of the Children of Iluvatar, that he created his disciples: the seven forefathers of the dwarves. But Iluvatar found out about it and punished him. Aule repented and gave Iluvatar his creatures, but in despair, he grabbed his hammer to destroy them, and the dwarves, afraid, dodged and begged for mercy. Iluvatar accepted the gift of Aule, but he could not bear for these creatures to come before his first-Born, so it was his will that the seven forefathers of the dwarves should sleep again, and sleep until the elves were born. Aule submitted to the will of Iluvatar and took the dwarves to various caves in the middle-earth, where they awoke. From the seven forefathers of the dwarves came the seven tribes. Aule created the dwarves in the dark time, they had to be able to resist the deeds of Morgoth, which is why the dwarves are not tall (from 1.40 m to 1.50 m), broad-shouldered, stocky, and much hardier than other creatures. The life span of gnomes is about 250 years. They marry at about 100 years of age, but the number of dwarfs decreases over the years. This is because Sauron, convinced of their integrity, began to mercilessly destroy the dwarves, as well as the fact that there are almost no women among them, so each generation of dwarves is much smaller than the previous one.
Hobbits - one of the free peoples of middle-earth, they were awakened in the first age. "Hobbits are an inconspicuous but very ancient people; they used to be much more numerous than they are now: they love quiet and quiet, ploughed land and flowery meadows, but now the world is very noisy and rather crowded. Skilled and dexterous, hobbits, however, could not stand - can not still - devices more complex than bellows, water mills, and spinning wheels. Since ancient times, they avoided people - in their language, they are huge - and now they do not even show their eyes. Their hearing is enviable, their eyes are sharp; they are, however, fat and do not like to rush, but if something happens, they do not lack agility and dexterity. Hobbits were used to disappearing instantly and noiselessly at the sight of an uninvited Hulk, and they had become so skilled that it seemed like magic to people. And hobbits had no idea of any magic: they were masters of hiding, and they were almost invisible, to the surprise of their large and clumsy neighbors. They are small, half a man's height, smaller even than dwarves-shorter and not so strong and stocky. Now a three-foot hobbit is a rarity, and before that, they say, all of them were not very small. According to the Scarlet Book, Bandobras Krol (Bykobor), son of Isengrim the Second, was four feet five inches tall and sat astride a horse. In all the history of the hobbits, there are only two memorable men of old who can compare with him, and their adventures are recorded in our chronicle. In the days of peace and prosperity, the hobbits lived as they were - and they lived merrily. They were dressed in bright colors, more and more in yellow and green, and they did not wear shoes: their hard feet were covered with thick curly hair, usually dark brown, like the hair on their heads. So the shoemaking trade was not held in high esteem, but other trades flourished, and the hobbits ' long, skillful fingers made very useful and, above all, excellent things. Their faces were not beautiful, but rather good-natured-cheeked, bright-eyed, ruddy, with a mouth almost up to their ears, always ready to laugh, eat, and drink. They laughed until they fell, drank and ate their fill, jokes were simple, food six times a day (there would have been something to eat). The hospitable hobbits were very fond of receiving guests and receiving gifts - and they did not remain in debt themselves."
Ents are living trees, guardians of olvar and shepherds of other trees. Awakened at the same time with the elves who have learned to speak Sindarin and koniska. Ents look like a cross between a tree and a person. Each of the ents takes care of its species of trees and resembles exactly these trees. Ents live for a long time and it is not easy to destroy them: they have a very thick skin (bark), which takes only fire. They think for a long time and are going to do something even longer, but once they have made a decision, they do not hesitate. Ents strengthen their strength with water, which is mixed with a special infusion, refreshing and nutritious. They have their language, but they prefer to speak in slightly modified Quenya.
